FAQs

Where is Lysons Learning Based?

I am based in Warrington, which is in the North West of England, right in the middle between Liverpool and Manchester.

Which Geographic Areas do you Work Across?

I am based in the North West of England, but have spent my entire career travelling around the UK and overseas to deliver training, so I am happy to travel to accommodate your training needs.

What do you charge?

I don’t have a set daily rate, but you will be given a fair quote based on your needs. Set courses are priced individually.

Can you support participants who have access needs?

Yes of course. I have extensive experience of supporting participants with dyslexia, who are neurodiverse and participants with physical disabilities and/or medical needs. I have a minimum accessibility standard for all venues that needs to be upheld before I will work there and I always create learning materials that support learning differences (where possible).

Do you deliver online or in person?

Both. My early career was focused IT Training and I have led 2 national charities through a digital training programme, so I am very comfortable delivering training online. I have also delivered, what is probably now, thousands of in-person sessions and love those too!

But I honestly believe that the content of the sessions should dictate the “preferred” method of session delivery – sometimes, it’s important to be able to read body language or just socially bring people together in a room who perhaps work remotely. But conversely, I also know that sometimes it’s just too far or too much of a faff to bring remote people together and so online works best.

However, all of the courses that I deliver can be delivered either online or in person with the exception of Responding to Suicidality – which, for safeguarding reasons, can only be delivered in person.

What makes you an “expert” in Voluntary Sector Training?

The short answer to this is lived experience. I first worked for a charity called Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisations, aka GMCVO, in 2007, and this was (unfortunately now gone. 😢) an organisation based in Ardwick, that supported the voluntary sector across Greater Manchester. The truth is, I loved it… the vibe, the people, and the amazing work that GMCVO did, along with the thousands of charities and volunteer groups across GM, that made such a positive difference to so many people’s lives. PLUS, I met one of my oldest friends there too!!!

Since then I have worked for national charities, some high profile and some big but not that well known and honestly this was the sector for me…. it’s the people I love the most though.. turning up every day, trying to support people in all manner of different and inventive ways.

So I have been supporting charities with their learning & development for over 25 years and it’s been a unique and brilliant experience with every new challenge.
